Captain Kathe's daughter Katie Scarlett Tupin puts her arm out to keep a passing manatee away. Manatees are sometimes really friendly but easy to keep away. Cortez girls grow up with these friendly beasts like midwest girls grow up with cows. Touching and interfering with manatees is actually illegal in the State of Florida.
